Palace of the Marquises of La Algaba
General data
The Palace of the Marquises of La Algaba, a grand Renaissance palatial residence of great architectural value (15th century), is considered to be one of the finest examples of civil Mudejar art in the city of Seville.
The palace, with its imposing Mudejar Gothic façade, which is still preserved today, remains one of the great unknowns of the monumental heritage of the city of Seville. After a slow and progressive process of degradation, despoilment and ruin, the former residence of one of Seville’s most illustrious families, the Guzmanes de La Algaba, came very close to disappearing. After a rigorous process of restoration, it re-emerged in full force at the beginning of the 21st century.
The Palace of the Marquises of La Algaba, located behind the market in Calle Feria, is the current headquarters of the Department of Education, Citizen Participation and Municipal Buildings, and since 2013, it has housed the Mudejar Art Centre of Seville. Location: Plaza Calderón de la Barca s/n, 41003 Seville
